Free Scholarship Programs by President University

President University offers many scholarship and financial aid programs to students who show great potential for future academic studies and those with financial need. Scholarship offers depend on several factors including high school performance, performance on the President University Entrance Exams, and the student’s family income level.

GOLD and SILVER Scholarship grants from President University for college education PU will provide annual scholarship grants to academically-gifted and bright individuals from low income backgrounds in order to help them with their college education, while at the same time recognizing their exemplary academic performance in the course of obtaining their degrees.
Based on its financial capability and position, PU will determine how many scholarship grants will be given to students on an annual basis.
The scholarships are valid for a year.
The scholarships may be extended based on an evaluation of the student’s performance.

GRANTS - Scholarships from a sponsoring individual or organization, foreign or local PU welcomes the support of individuals or organizations willing to help financing the college education of students.
PU will abide the terms and conditions set by the sponsoring organization or individual.
In the absence of the sponsor’s terms and conditions, the PU policy on scholarship shall be used as basis for setting the terms and conditions.

Eligibility Requirements - To be eligible for the scholarships, the candidate must fulfill the following requirements:
Graduated from high school with a minimum grade of 7.5 - 8.0
Passed the university placement tests with a Rank 1 rating (minimum 80 marks average during the Entrance Tests).
Comes from a family with a gross annual income of less than Rp 36 million per year* (or its equivalent denomination in foreign currency).

*Reference: Monthly industry minimum wage of Rp. 964.000 per month per capita employment (BPS Economic Indicators, February 2007).
Assume both parents are working.

In order to continue with the scholarships, the student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 per annum. Related terms and conditions apply.

Carnegie Mellon University AusAID Scholarships

Carnegie Mellon University AusAID Scholarships Commencing January 2008 in Adelaide, Australia.
Carnegie Mellon is a top ranking U.S. university. In 2006 the university opened the Carnegie Mellon Heinz School, in Adelaide, Australia.

The Heinz School is consistently ranked among the top ten public policy programs in the U.S. and is ranked first in information technology.

The Commonwealth Government of Australia provides funding for a limited number of Carnegie Mellon UniversityAusAID Scholarships to eligible applicants for the following Masters level programs in Adelaide:

1. Master of Science in Public Policy and Management (MSPPM)
An innovative and distinguished graduate program that prepares students to advance the public interest by developing exceptional analytic, quantitative and technical skills.

2. Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT)
A unique graduate program offering a mix of technology, management and strategy courses to provide students with an understanding of information technology from both operational and strategic perspectives.

The programs are delivered in three semesters over 12 months, full time. Scholarship recipients will gain knowledge and skills that they can apply to the development of their home country upon completion of their study. Scholarships include full tuition, return economy airfares, a contribution to living expenses and basic medical insurance.

Scholarship applicants must meet AusAID’s eligibility criteria and the minimum requirements for admission to Carnegie Mellon University:
• A Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
• A current Academic IELTS test score which meets the University’s minimum requirements (6.5 overall or higher) or equivalent TOEFL.

The Brunel International Scholarship 2008 - Brunel University

Master Scholarship in Computer Science at Korea University

PhD Course Scholarship at NIPS, Okazaki, Japan

NIPS (National Institute for Physical Science) Scholarships

There are 4 types possibel scholarship from NIPS :
1. “University Recommendation” MEXT (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship.
2. Seiriken Scholarship
3. “Embassy Recommendation” MEXT (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship
4. a certain number of scholarships are provided by JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization), as well as private foundations

Eligibility

In general, candidates must have completed (or be expected to obtain before starting study in NIPS) a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university for acceptance into the 5-year combined master’s/Ph.D. Candidates wishing to enter the 3-year program must have completed a master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university. People who currently hold Ph.D. degrees are not eligible for any of the above scholarships.

Candidates must be well prepared for the course for which they are applying within the Department of Physiological Sciences. Those candidates who are not native speakers of English are required by the Board of Graduate Studies to provide the results of an English language test and are expected to meet the following standards of proficiency:

* TOEFL (paper-based test):
Minimum overall score of 600, with a minimum score of 5.0 in the TOEFL Test of Written English (TWE).
* TOEFL (computer-based test):
Minimum overall score of 250, with a minimum score of 5.0 in the essay writing section of the text.
* TOEFL (Internet-based test):
Minimum overall score of 100, with a minimum score of 24 in the writing section of the test.

How to Apply

It is essential to secure appropriate supervision before applying for the above scholarships. Therefore, your first step in applying for a scholarship should be to get in contact with at least one of the professors in NIPS (http://www.nips.ac.jp/eng/outline/pub/staff.html) to find out about any technical requirements as well as the range and depth of background knowledge that is needed by successful candidates for admission.

After you have made contact with an appropriate supervisor, please ask him/her to send an application form for the “University Recommendation” scholarship to you. Your application form must be completed and returned to the Board by 6 February 2008.

The Board of Graduate Studies at NIPS consults with the professors responsible for determining admission to the University about the respective merits of each applicant. On the basis of that consultation, applicants who are on the shortlist for the “University Recommendation” MEXT Ph.D. Scholarship will be invited to an interview at NIPS in February every year for the Ph.D. Program starting in October of the same year.

PhD Program Inflammation and Immunity

Application
The international PhD and MD/PhD Program Inflammation and Immunity (IAI) announces new openings for graduate student positions awarded to the best candidates on a competitive basis.

Requirements:

- Highly qualified applicants from all over the world are invited to apply provided that they are not older than 28 years. Age limit extensions are applicable for special private circumstances; please contact the coordinator for details.
- All applicants should be fluent in written and spoken English (TOEFL certificate or others)
- All applicants must hold a university degree latest by October 2008 and should fulfill the official admission criteria for PhD students at the MUW (see §2 of the Curriculum of the PhD-Studies). The university degree should qualify for the start of a PhD thesis in their home country and ideally should be equivalent to a European university diploma.
- All applicants should have excellent academic track records and demonstrate strong enthusiasm and talent for research.

Application:
By April 15th 2008 (deadline) applicants should mail or email the completed application forms containing the following information to the IAI PhD Program office:

- a detailed CV demonstrating competence and motivation for science
- all undergraduate level certificates including university grades. Foreign documents must be sent as certified English translations
- a summary of technical and scientific experiences
- the synopsis of the diploma thesis
- a list of publications and/or presentations at meetings
- names and address of 2-3 referees who will separately have to send letters of recommendation and a completed questionnaire to the IAI PhD Program office (see details below)
- indication of at least 2-3 preferred laboratories / projects within the IAI program (click here for details) and explanation for these choices. This statement of preference will be considered by the IAI faculty but is not regarded as a strict commitment by either side.

Only complete applications can be considered for the selection procedure.

Reapplications will not be considered.

Deadline for receipt of completed application and reference letters is March 31, 2008

Letter of recommendation:
Letters of recommendation are requested from at least two scientists who are familiar with the academic work of the candidate and who can judge their potential as a PhD student. Applicants must forward the enclosed questionnaire letter to the referees and ask them to send their letters of recommendation directly to the IAI PhD Program office at the above address in a closed envelope or by email.

Please note that we will be unable to process your application without letters of recommendation. These letters are therefore an essential part of the application, and it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the referees write to us latest by March 31, 2008.

Selection procedure and admission:
Complete applications will be reviewed and ranked by a selection committee consisting of the IAI faculty. The short-listed candidates will receive invitations to visit our laboratories at the Medical University of Vienna for a 2-3 day period for interviews and information exchange. These interviews will take place in May 2008. Travel expenses will be reimbursed, and free accommodation will be provided. Offers of admission will be made to the successful candidates at the end of the interview period.

Benefits for students of the IAI PhD program:Graduate students admitted to the IAI PhD program will have a regular employment with full social security coverage at the Medical University of Vienna and receive funding for at least 3 years according to the salary scheme of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). Students will be assigned to a PhD thesis committee composed of the supervisor, one internal and one external advisor. Thesis research will be accompanied by an educational training program in the field of inflammation and immunity.
