Japan IDB - Scholarship

Welcome to the Japan-IDB Scholarship Fund!

This Program was established in 1991 to award scholarships to students from the Bank's borrowing member countries to pursue Master degree's studies at the most prestigious universities around the world in disciplines related to economic development.

Since the beginning of the Program, 560 scholarships have been granted to women and men from Latin America and the Caribbean who have now returned to their countries of origin.
The selection process is highly competitive since we receive more applications than the number of scholarships that we are able to grant.

These scholarships, financed by the generous contribution of the Japanese Government, seek to train people who have experience in the public sector and/or academia and intend to return to their countries to work in the same area. Upon completion of the study program, the only requirement of the Scholarship Program is that the students must work in their countries of origin for at least two years.

Since we currently have an important number of former scholarship recipients, we have held Alumni Meetings in different countries of the region over the past years. It is a great pleasure to witness how these scholarships have helped the recipients improve their professional careers and contribute to important programs in their countries.

We have developed this web site in order to make this a means of interaction between scholarship recipients and future candidates, in hope that it will become a useful tool as well.
