Purpose: The primary goal of these scholarships is to assist United States citizens, who are either Japanese language teachers or graduate students of Japanese language education, experience life in Japan, further their understanding of the Japanese language, improve their teaching abilities, and enrich their appreciation of Japanese culture. We believe these recipients will generate immeasurable goodwill for USA/Japan relations, and all their future students will share in the benefits realized from these scholarships.

Emphasis On: Japanese teachers or graduate students interested in furthering their understanding of the Japanese language, improving their teaching abilities, and enriching their appreciation of Japanese culture.
